This article is the starting point for a new series of interviews with our GHS teachers. To start our series out, we interviewed none other than the varsity baseball Coach Derwin McGownd. Coach McGownd has been a teacher for 18 years, five of which have been here at galena. Our students and staff are very excited to celebrate our sixth year with him this year. 

Before McGownd started his teaching career, he went to many colleges, including Missouri Valley College in Marshall, MO,  Missouri State West Plains, Missouri State University in Springfield,  William Woods in Fulton, MO. He worked at the YMCA before he started teaching.  He also worked for  the city of Mountain Grove where he formerly coached. For Mountain Grove he worked on a trash truck, worked on powerlines, and other random jobs around the city. 

In our next article of our new series we will be interviewing JH English teacher, Melanie Hebblethwaite.
